Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender is one of the most versatile out of all essential oils. Most commonly known for its relaxing effects on the body, therapeutic-grade lavender has been highly regarded for the skin. It may be used to cleanse cuts, bruises, and skin irritations.
The fragrance of our Lavender essential oil is calming, relaxing and balancing - physically and emotionally. Lavender has been proven to be really good for regulating anxiety and insomnia.
Lavender Bath - Excellent for aching muscles, relaxation, stress relief. Add 6-8 drops of Lavender essential oil after running the water and vigorously agitate the water. Add the drops to a capful of milk or Epsom salts and then put in the bath as this helps to disperse the oils throughout the water. This is a great way to receive the benefits of Lavender oil. Lie back and enjoy!
Lavender Steam Inhalation - Great for colds and flu or as part of a skincare acne regime. Add 4-6 drops to a bowl of hot water. Place a towel over your head and breathe in the vapour. Keep your eyes shut. Continue to breathe deeply for a few minutes, occasionally removing the towel and your head from the bowl.
Lavender Compress - In a bowl of warm water add 6-8 drops of Lavender oil and swirl around. Soak a cloth then gently squeeze out and apply to the area of your body you wish to treat. Use cold water for treating new muscular injuries or sprains.
Insomnia - In a number of studies, patients have been shown to sleep better and be more alert during the day when their sleep medication is replaced with lavender oil either dropped on their pillows or placed in a diffuser on the ward. To help to induce sleep, put 3 or 4 drops of lavender oil on your pillow.
Fevers - For babies or small children, sponge them down very gently with tepid water to which you have added a drop of lavender oil. Take care not to let them get chilled. This works for adults too.
Earaches - Sometimes, adults and children get earaches. Using a warm compress, add a few drops of Lavender oil to the warm, wet compress and massage the areas around and behind the ears, and the sides of the neck under the jaw-line, following the path starting behind the ear lobes. This can help relieve and reduce inflammation around the Eustachian tubes that drain the ears to the throat.
Bringing relief to bruised areas try gently rubbing a few drops of Lavender oil around and on sore, bruised muscles to promote blood flow, healing and relief from the tenderness and pain.
